About The
McDonald Clan
We
are the McDonald family. We live in a large, five-bedroom,
white brick house, with a flat roof, on Maplewood Drive in
Spring, Texas. I mention the flat roof because that is how
everyone identifies our house in the neighborhood. Most of
our children are grown now, except one, but that hasn’t
seemed to slow the pace around here yet.
Craig is the dad of the household. His
occupation is a social studies teacher down in Houston, but
that doesn’t nearly describe his activities. Besides taking
care of the dogs and playing with them on a regular basis,
he loves to cook. His Cajun background from Louisiana makes
his gumbos, etoufees, and fricassees to die for. He is also
a bread baker and a beer brewer. There’s always a new
project that he is working on, and I am proud to say that he
finishes what he starts!
Dondee is the mum of the house. Like Craig,
she
is a teacher, too. She teaches English up the road near
Lake Conroe. Dondee’s passion, other than her children and
her dogs, is gardening. Our back yard has over one hundred
varieties of plants from tropical plumeria and bird of
paradise to Norfolk pine to herbs to vegetables. Dondee
also loves to travel. One of her latest adventures was a
road trip through west Texas with her son Kelly and one of
his high school buddies. They spent two weeks camping in
the hill country taking in the cowboy scenery.

Kelly is the youngest in the family. His older
sister Janna, and his brother Boone have already left the
nest. Kelly attends Oak Ridge High School where he will be
a junior this year. Like the rest of the family, he is
always active. He enjoys trips to Colorado, and he likes to
play X-Box Live. He also loves our dogs, and he chooses a
different one to sleep with him each night.
Margaret lives with us also. She is Kelly,
Boone, and Janna’s grandmother. Margaret moved in about
four years ago from the hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
She enjoys bird watching, going to church, and shopping the
nearby mall.
Our
three oldest dogs are Brinx, a dynamite male
boxer who keeps guard around the house, but whose bark is
much worse than his bite; Aunt Bee, our first
pug, who looks and acts like Aunt Bee on Mayberry RFD;
Spooky Gucci Ya Ya, our second pug, a black lady
who is full of mischief and likes to sit above my shoulder
whenever I am watching tv. None of the above have litters
anymore; they are retired.
Dondee's PugPeople
Bully is our oldest pug stud. His whole name is MIB
Alien Agent Bullwrinkle. Sounds important, doesn’t
he? Well, he is important. He is the dad to many a little
pug and has brought much happiness to the world. Our pug
customers love him to death, and he earns us many
referrals. He is a beautifully marked fawn, and has lovely
conformation, as you can see in his picture.
Patti Petunia La Puglett is a charming black
female. We call her “Toon.” She is our sweetest momma dog,
a real lap warmer. Her wrinkly face makes you think she is
a lot older than she really is, but being a pug, she doesn’t
really care about chin tucks and face lifts.

Goblin’s Gucci Pucci is a real gem of a pug. Her
coat is a beautiful soft, coppery color. She has an
adorable personality to go with her shimmering healthy
coat. She loves people and going places.
Popeye the Sailor Pug is our new stud on campus.
His daddy is an AKC Champion show pug. Popeye knows how to
strut his stuff. His personality is so cute. He has his
own toy box. He loves to share his toys with all the
family, but I am still working on teaching him how to put
them away when he finishes playing with them.
Our Lil Olive Oyl is Popeye’s first girlfriend.
Olive is one of Petunia and Bully’s little girls that we
decided to keep. She is lovable and just wants to
please
everybody. She is as happy as she can be as long as she has
someone to talk to. She doesn’t like to be left by herself,
though, and her sad emotions show in her wrinkly, little
black face when she isn’t a happy girl.
Colonel’s
Hobgoblin Toebiter – Our Goblin is quite a
character! She loves to play and tug on ropes, and toes are
always in danger. Well-trained and obedient, Goblin is
always a joy to have around.
Hobgoblin’s
Hocus Pocus – A real teddy bear! Pokie loves to
curl up in our laps and watch TV. Be wary, though, because
she will demand you scratch and pet her in return for the
honor of her attention!
We have spotlighted some of our best-known and requested pugs above, but our pug family extends beyond the capacity of our web page. However, pictures are available by request. We are proud of all our Pugs and would love to show them to you by email or by visit. Come and see; you are invited!
Craig's Cavalier King Charles Spaniels

We
have three happy-go-lucky Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Gals
who live with us, too.
We
call the first one Tricksy. Her real name is
Mooremannor Top Gal. Tricksy was imported from
County Kildare in Ireland. She has a beautiful, shiny and
silky Blenheim coat. One of her favorite things to do is
sleep with Kelly. She is a real people-pleaser.
Our
second Cavalier gal is named Dreaming Rosie.
Like Tricksy, she was imported from Ireland. Her coat is
also Blenheim, but she is more brown on white, than white on
brown. Rosie has a bit more mischief in her personality
than Tricksy does. She loves to go on walks and to chase
squirrels.

Lady Midnight is our youngest Blenheim Cavalier
King Charles Spaniel. She is also our smallest Cavalier,
weighing about fourteen pounds. Lady loves to put her head
on my lap while I am reading or watching tv. She also loves
it when we have a backyard barbeque because she loves to
play outside with the kids who come to visit. Like all of
our Cavaliers, Lady comes from Ireland.

Sparticus is our upcoming tri-color
male stud. He is a charming and adventurous lad direct from
Ireland, registered by both the IKC and the AKC. "Sparty"
has a beautiful Cavalier tri-color coat, lovely ears, and
big, bright eyes that have that Irish smile!
We
chose to import our Cavaliers from European stock out of
Ireland to avoid some of the hereditary heart problems and
other congenital defects that we have noticed are more
problematic in the American Cavalier. Our Cavaliers were
chosen from good show stock to promote a healthy foundation
for breeding puppies here at McDonald Lucky Charm Kennel.
They are registered by the Irish Kennel Club and their
registrations have been transferred to the American Kennel
Club, so that their litters can be recognized by the AKC.
McDonald Clan's Cairn Terriers
The McDonalds have been hit by a twister, and it's brought new joy to our home. We are proud to announce the addition of two high quality Cairn Terriers to our family. Two new females have joined the clan: Amy Henry Lady and Auntie M's Lil Twister Sister.
